Black History Month at the National Theatre

This October the National Theatre has events marking Black History Month 2018.

Black Spoken Identities: Performance, Poetry and Debate

As one of the UK’s fastest growing artforms, spoken word creates the space for poets to share their work and bring it to life through performance.

Join us with some of London’s top poets as they share their work and discuss what the artform means to them.

We hear from artists Keith Jarrett, Ekow Otoo, Sharla Smith and Lorianne Tika-Lemba.

A panel discussion with black arts professionals exploring their routes and celebrating their successes in the industry.

We hear from a variety of leadership roles.

Chaired by Ayesha Casely-Hayford we will be hearing from Oval House Executive Producer Stella Kanu, Chi-chi Nwanoku Founder, Artistic and Executive Director of Chineke!, and Dramaturg and Associate Director at The Gate Anthony Simpson-Pike.

Programmed as part of the National Theatre BAME Network’s celebration of Black History Month.
