Barefaced: fresh new work from fresh new faces.
A London based Theatre Company focused on producing ambitious but accessible theatre that invites audiences to expand their imaginations; a theatre style that subverts audience expectations and questions the world around us. Barefaced focuses on strong storytelling, strong physicality and strong women’s roles both on and off stage.
We aim to explore both classical and new writing to deconstruct society’s ongoing conflicts of interest. It is a dual mission for the love of writing and a passion for performing.
We have a strong track record of producing sell out work for a wide range of diverse audiences. Our first repertory season was called A Significant role which features 3 new, devised plays: Mad Women, Whore & All Hidden, we are performing the season at a Pop Up cinema in Notting Hill – we are using projections and video art throughout all the plays. Prior to this, we performed the play Electricity by Murray Gold, in a vacant Doctor’s surgery and offices in Pimlico.
The Mysterious Players, a musical revue devised especially for the Earls Court Festival and performed in the atmospheric surroundings of Brompton Cemetery. Whore was very successfully performed at the weird and wonderful Resistance Gallery in Bethnal Green, we also used a Gallery in Shoreditch for our sold-out political satire Candidates for Change: The Road to Con-Dem-Nation, this had segments recorded by BBC Wales during the election.
We also transformed an empty shop in Brixton Market into a nail-salon for the site specific production Hard as Nails and staged Measure for Measure in the Crypt in St Andrews Church, Holborn, on Shakespeare’s birthday.
